Step Up’s Programs & Services in Monterey County

Step Up in Salinas was our first Project Homekey motel conversion in Monterey County. Step Up quickly began to convert The Good Nite Inn into permanent supportive housing. In December 2020, we opened our doors to house and support individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and other mental health or addiction issues and who are at high risk of COVID 19. It only took a few short months to rehabilitate 55 units under phase one followed by the rehabilitation of the remaining 45 units. Had new construction been the alternative, it would have taken years to complete this project versus the quick turnaround due to Project Homekey funding.
