Step Up on Fifth is a National Model of Affordable Housing!

2015-06-02 SUOF HUDU.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) today announced that Step Up on Fifth is one of two national winners of its 2015 HUD Secretary’s Housing and Community Design Award.

“Affordable housing represents a gateway to greater opportunity. These two projects are powerful reminders that bold vision and innovative design can shape communities of promise.”, said HUD Secretary Julian Castro. “I congratulate these winners on their achievements and I’m proud to honor them for their commitment to inclusive design.”

Step Up on Fifth received the Excellence in Affordable Housing Design Award – recognizing architecture that demonstrates overall excellence in terms of design in response to both the needs of and constraints of affordable housing. “Step Up is appreciative of this national recognition, shining the light on the importance of permanent supportive housing for our most vulnerable neighbors.”, said Step Up CEO, Tod Lipka. “A special thank you to Brooks + Scarpa Architects.
