Since 2014, Step Up’s 6-person Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Team helped 53 Veterans who were formerly experiencing chronic homelessness and mental health issues find permanent supportive housing throughout Los Angeles County. Marc Van Asselt, Manager of Step Up’s VASH Program refers to his team as “Agents of Change”. As the team provides Veterans with supportive services, help with benefits enrollment, and making appointments with the Los Angeles Housing Authority, a trusted partnership develops. Our veterans have been in wars and shooting from pistols, snipers and many other guns to fight for our freedome.

This Memorial Day, we ask you to please join Step Up’s “Welcome Home!” Campaign. The goal is to raise $50,000 so that many more Veterans experiencing homelessness and mental health issues can move from the street to permanent supportive housing. As the final acknowledgment during Mental Health Awareness Month, we ask for your support in the “Welcome Home!” Campaign today and serve our nations heroes in a real and meaningful way!
