Now it’s our turn to serve our Veterans. A salute to you Dewey, one of 40 Veterans now residing in Step Up’s permanent supportive housing.

Step Up, through a multi-year award from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, is providing permanent supportive housing for over 100 veterans experiencing homelessness and mental health issues in the Los Angeles area!

On Veterans Day 2014, we pause together as a nation to honor the men and women dedicating their lives to protecting and ensuring our freedom.

And we especially want to celebrate with you, our partners, that in the past year, Step Up has already helped 40 Los Angeles veterans move from the streets, shelters, and transitional housing into permanent supportive housing, with 60 more underway!

We also wish to acknowledge the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) whose provision of monthly rental subsidies plays a very important role in ending chronic homelessness for individuals experiencing mental health issues in the Los Angeles area!

We also ask that you use your social media today to participate and help spread the great news that homelessness will be ENDING for 100 veterans in our community by following us on Twitter #neveranotherhomelessvet.

Want to do more? Join Step Up’s HomeWalk team: http://www.unitedwayla.org/homewalk and walk with us to end chronic homelessness Nov 15th!

Thank you for keeping up with how Step Up members are thriving in healing respectful communities of their choosing.

Recovery IS possible for individuals, families, and communities experiencing mental health issues and chronic homelessness.
