Step Up’s Programs & Services in Monterey County
One of our Project Homekey motel conversion developments is located in the City of Salinas. In partnership with Shangri-La Industries, Step Up quickly began to convert The Good Nite Inn into permanent supportive housing. In December 2020, we opened its doors to house and support individuals experiencing chronic homelessness and other mental health or addiction issues and who are at high risk of COVID 19. It only took a few short months to rehabilitate 55 units under phase one followed by the rehabilitation of the remaining 45 units. Had new construction been the alternative, it would have taken years to complete this project versus the quick turnaround due to Project Homekey funding.
